How to stop Windows 10 from requiring a password when resuming from sleep

How to stop Windows 10 from requiring a password when resuming from sleep

There are three easy ways to prevent windows 10 from requiring password, when resuming from sleep.

Windows 10 takes great care for your privacy and it provides different ways to avoid from unauthorized access to your computer and data. But entering password now and then is annoying me many times.

As I am the only one in my room and nobody wants to enter into my computer.  So I wished to avoid any option to avoid thispassword formality every time, especially when I left my computer in sleep mode.

Luckily I came to know that there at least three ways to avoid password when resuming windows 10 from sleep mode.

The three ways are as follow

  1. Setting App
  2. Group Policy Editor
  3. Command prompt
Below I have showed all three ways with pictures. Hope you will catch them easily.

1. How to Prevent Passwordprompt after sleeping Using setting :

Now I will explain this method in four easy steps.

  • Open Settings from Start Menu
  • Click on Accounts
  • Click on Sign-in Options
  • Under Sign-in option chooses Never from Drop-down menu.

Congratulations You did it.

Now you no longer require password to wakeup Windows 10 from Sleep.
To go back to the password protection after sleep go through same steps, except in step 4, selectWhen PC Wakes up from Sleep option.

2. How to preventpassword prompt after sleep using Group Policy:

Thought it is very easy to set your configurations using setting. But there is one problem if you are using your system from laptop.  You have only one option then. When you are using battery you cant choose to stop password.

In such cases you can use group policy Editor. By using group policy editor you can stop your system from asking about password after sleeping mode.

In very simple seven steps, I will show you the procedure.

  • Open Run Command by using Windows Key + R
  • Write gpedit.msc and press OK. It will open Group Policy Editor.

  • Follow the exact following path
  • Computer Configuration >Administrative Templates > System  >Power                  Management  >Sleep Settings

  • Double click the Policy you want.

  • Click Disable Option
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK

At this point you have completed the task, now if you want to go back in step 5, instead of disable option select Not Configured.

3. How to avoid password prompt after sleep using Command Prompt:

Local Group Policy is only available if you are using Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise and Education versions. But if you are using Windows 10 Home you will not find Local Group Policy. The good news is you can get same results using Command Prompt.

To disable passwordwhile sleeping use following steps

  • Press Windows Key + Xto open Power User Menu.

  • Select Power Prompt (Admin).

  • If your battery is running on battery, type the following command and press enter.
  • Powercfg /SETDCVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_NONE COSOLELOCK 0
  • If you are willing to disable the sign in option while your device is plugged in, type following command and press Enter.
  • Powercfg /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_NONE COSOLELOCK 0
  • To enable the require sign in options simply write 1 instead of 0 at last of the code and Press Enter

Congratulations you did it.
